Gorgeous location’, ‘simply perfect’, ‘incredible’ are just some of the phrases you could use to describe this unique and idyllic Cotswolds retreat.
Built in 2019, Peglars Barn is a small modern barn situated on the Laurie Lee Wildlife Way giving guests easy access to four nature reserves in the Slad Valley – Frith Wood, Snows Farm. Swifts Hill and Laurie Lee Wood (although it must be noted that Dogs are not allowed in the Laurie Lee Wood). With the Slad valley itself chock full of amazing walks, you really are spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing where to go for the day.
With all the amenities you require already in the barn, you can spend your time making the most of the beautiful countryside. With floor to ceiling sliding doors, decking, comfortable outdoor chairs and a firepit, you can relax soaking in the rays or wonder while watching the starts, all within the comfort of your own home away from home. You even get to view some wildlife without stepping foot from your bedroom, with friendly horses, sheep, cows and the odd cat to keep you company.
Stroud is a short drive away if you need to pick up any supplies, and Cheltenham is also close by if you require anything more substantial.
We spent our first day exploring the Swifts Hill. It’s about a mile and a half walk from the Barn to Swifts Hill and can be accessed on grassland or rough tracks. Once there, it’s a steep six-mile circular walk around Laurie Lee’s incredible valley. It’s a fairly vigorous walk, but you’re rewarded with some brilliant birds to watch, butterflies and wildflowers.
This unique Costwolds barn comes highly recommended for a peaceful stay in beautiful surroundings.
